Thread
OVERVIEW

The right thread depends on the material being sewn, the seam strength required, the sewing machine in use, and the end-use environment. Hi-Tex stocks across the constructions and tex sizes that industrial sewers depend on most, with bonded nylon and bonded polyester in deep inventory across the widest range of sizes and colors. Flame resistant Nomex thread is available for applications where fire resistance is required.

  • Bonded nylon in tex sizes T-30 through T-270
  • Bonded polyester in tex sizes T-45 through T-210
  • Core-spun for high-strength applications
  • Textured for upholstery and soft goods
  • Monofilament for invisible seams and blind stitching
  • Bobbins in nylon and polyester across industrial bobbin styles

  • Flame resistant Nomex thread available for fire-resistant applications

Styles We Stock

Bonded nylon thread

Bonded nylon thread

Resin-bonded for smooth high-speed sewing with excellent elongation and abrasion resistance. The workhorse of industrial sewing.

Bonded polyester thread

Bonded polyester thread

Resin-bonded polyester with superior UV and chemical resistance for outdoor, marine, and industrial applications.

Core-spun thread

Core-spun thread

A polyester filament core wrapped in a spun fiber sheath. Combines high tensile strength with a softer seam hand.

Textured thread

Textured thread

Air-entangled or crimped thread construction that adds bulk and coverage for a softer seam finish.

Monofilament thread

Monofilament thread

Single-filament clear thread for invisible seams and blind stitching for hemming, quilting, and other applications.

Bobbins

Bobbins

Pre-wound bobbins in bonded nylon and bonded polyester across standard industrial bobbin styles including L, M, G, A, and sideless formats.

Tex size range
Fine (T-24 to T-40)
Used in lightweight apparel, soft goods, and applications requiring a fine seam. T-40 is common for general apparel and bag lining construction.
Medium (T-45 to T-70)
The most widely used range for sewn-goods manufacturing. T-70 is the standard all-purpose size for packs, harnesses, straps, and general assembly. Stocked deepest across all constructions.
Heavy (T-90 to T-135)
For heavier materials, high-stress seams, and applications requiring increased seam strength. Used in tactical gear, orthopedic products, and industrial assembly.
Extra heavy (T-210 to T-270)
For the heaviest applications including load-bearing straps, safety harnesses, and industrial webbing assembly. T-210 bonded polyester is stocked in deep inventory.

Thread construction
Bonded nylon
Continuous filament nylon with a resin bond that locks the plies together for smooth feed through the needle. Excellent elongation, abrasion resistance, and loop strength. The most widely used thread construction in heavy sewn-goods manufacturing.
Bonded polyester
Continuous filament polyester with a resin bond. Lower elongation than nylon with superior resistance to UV, heat, and chemicals. Preferred for outdoor, marine, awning, and industrial applications.
Core-spun
A high-tenacity polyester filament core wrapped in a spun fiber sheath. Combines the strength of filament thread with the sewability and seam appearance of spun thread. Used in apparel and upholstery.
Textured
Filament thread processed to add bulk through air entanglement or crimping. Produces a softer, fuller seam with good coverage. Used where seam hand and appearance matter as much as performance.
Monofilament
A single continuous filament of nylon or polyester. Nearly invisible when sewn. Used for blind hemming, quilting, and applications where thread should not be visible from the face of the fabric.
Flame resistant
Nomex spun thread for applications requiring fire resistance. Available in select colors and tex sizes. Suitable for protective apparel and gear subject to flame and heat exposure.
